Thanks to the takeover of the holdings of the former Düsseldorf State and City Library, ULB Düsseldorf today affords extensive historical holdings. This precious cultural legacy must be maintained, preserved and made available for research and teaching. We invite interested members of the public to also explore our collections.

Manuscripts

423 manuscripts from the 8th to 14th centuries. Learn more about our very oldest holdings.

From the early years of letterpress printing. Our collections also include testimonies from this period.

A number of very different institutional and private libraries were incorporated into our predecessor institutions over their 200-year history.
